Threaded end (TE) nipolets and plain end (PE) nipolets are in the SW/TH size range, so in SpoolFab’s Master Files they are found under SW/TH branches. However, because their outlet is a male end, they do not have a fitting rating or olet rating, but rather they have a schedule, which is usually XS or XXS but can also be Sch160.
Nipolets are also generally available in lengths of 3.5, 4.5, 5.5 or6.5 inches, and there can be non-standard lengths as well.
In SpoolFab’s Master Files, TE and PE nipolets are listed under SW/TH branches, as shown below:
SpoolFab treats XS, XXS and Sch160 nipolets as if they had olet ratings of 3000#, 6000# and 9000# respectively. The nipolet descriptions are simply adjusted to show the schedules rather than the ratings.
For example, if you want the nipolets to be described as Sch160, draw them as if they had an olet rating of 9000#. You can set this rating in the spec as shown below.
A nipolet drawn using the above spec will be described as 3.5 inch long and S/160, as shown below.
If you need to change the schedule of the nipolet to XS or XXS, press Ctrl-E or select Edit, Edit Bill of Materials and select 3000# or 6000# respectively.
The description in the bill of materials updates accordingly. The nipolet dimension will also update to whatever is in the master files, normally 3.5 inch.
By default, SpoolFab draws all nipolets 3.5 inches long. To change the nipolet length, press Ctrl-F for Custom Fitting Dimension and click near the mid-point of the nipolet. Then enter the desired dimension as shown in the example below.
When you hit Accept, the description will change to reflect the new length.
There are also BE nipolets. They belong in the BW size range, so they are listed under BW branches.
Bevel end nipolets base their schedule on the nipple wall in the spec, subject to the limitation that they are only available in XS, XXS and Sch160.
