Victaulic Rings as Stub Ends

K0074

Vic-Rings in General

When a Victaulic coupling is to be used with pipe that does not lend itself to direct grooving, a Vic-Ring can be welded to the end of the pipe instead. The grooved ring can be buttwelded to the pipe as in the case of a Type B Vic-Ring, or it can be attached using a slip-on weld, as with a Type D Vic-Ring.

The picture, taken from a Victaulic catalog, shows a Vic-Ring along with an AGS Rigid Coupling (upper image) and an AGS Flexible Coupling(lower image).

As of 2022-11-26, some new fitting symbols have been added to SpoolFab to show more clearly Vic-Ring Type B and Vic-Ring Type D. <cf>

How to Use the New Images

It is suggested that Vic-Rings Type B and Type D be treated as stub ends, but with the Lap Joint Flange omitted, as shown below.

The dimension files LWT.ac3 and LWU.ac3 provided with the master files treat them as having zero dimension in all sizes, so you will be prompted to enter a dimension each time you draw one of them.

They are shown above without a coupling and below with a Victaulic coupling.
